We're in Almaty!

So this is our first entry from Almaty, Kazakhstan! It's sometime around 12am, which means all of you are probably just getting your days going. Today has been a long but good day.

Woke up and walked to get some breakfast. We couldn't get a hold of the girls, so we decided to go and try and find them at their apartment. One problem... we didn't know where they lived exactly. Gave up and bought a calling card to call them - no luck, though. Finally Justin went back to our apartment to put back some things and try and contact the girls. He figured out he had copied down the wrong phone number for the girls... a simple explanation to our inability to reach them. Caught up with them and walked around the area near their apartment (Atakent for those who have been here.) Rested a while in the nice shade of large trees.... a welcome dip in temperature on the hot day. Chris and Derek got to try their first dose of JuicyCool.

Met up with the Resurrection Church gang. So good to say hello to our brothers and sisters here! We introduced everyone and had a nice time of fellowship. Tanya returned for the summer, and it was great for us to see her (she served on our team last year.) We also got to solidify some details concerning the next couple weeks. We'll be teaching English Classes beginning this Monday through next Thursday. And, we'll be serving at the VBS beginning this Monday! This next week is going to be crazy, but fun and exciting I'm sure. After the meeting several of the Kazakh nationals came over to the girls apartment for dinner. Annie, Lindsay and I served up dinner.

Everyone is pretty whipped out. We walked back to our apartment maybe an hour or so ago. Last year we didn't begin the VBS until our 2nd week here in Kaz, but this year we're jumping right into it. I think it's going to be rough, but God will give strength. We will meet up for VBS at the girls apartment around 7am, do the VBS, eat lunch/break for 2 hours, then teach English from 4pm to 9ish. So, we'll have long days and lots to do, but I'm so excited to see what God will do this week!
